According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey office, in North Dakota and Montana, we have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
The Bakken Formation estimate is larger than all other current USGS oil assessments of the lower 48 states and is the largest “continuous” oil accumulation ever assessed by the USGS.
What is our government doing to recover this oil and move toward energy independence?
This is one of the FAQ that are ‘somewhat answered at Bakken Formation – USGS – Energy for a Changing World, but a simple answer will not be found. As with most government involved projects in the USA it has to do with government regulations, a media that will not report stories the left do not want reported, and environmental issues. The information that I could find is at: Bakken Formation – USGS – Energy for a Changing World
