Political Correctness and Fort Hood

With the new discovery that Nidal Malik Hasan attended the same mosque as two Sept. 11 hijackers in 2001, do you believe that our politically correct idea that it is wrong to profile cost the lives of twelve people at Fort Hood? If our military had checked into Hasan’s background would he have been in a position to commit this act of terrorism?

Can Propaganda Destroy A Nation?

While most of us find it frightening to watch as Congress and the executive branch attempt to dismantle our system of government, it is nonetheless fascinating as well.  To see a system of government that has worked so well for so long being taken down (if the attempt is successful) is a historical event of unprecedented significance.

If the constitution is the strong and wonderful document that my generation believes it to be, then even this newest onslaught of attacks against it will not stand.  The constitution was written to protect citizens from government intrusion into private life and to strike down any decision made by government that will eventually lead to  tyranny and/or dictatorship. Most of what is being done by this administration has never been tested in the courts. The government take over of private industry should be struck down so long as we have the constitution as our rule of law.

My topic today, however, isn’t can a government take-over of our system hold up in court, but rather how we got to this point in the first place.

It seems to me that propaganda was the tool used by those seeking power to establish a  mind-set whereby many Americans would passively watch and actually believe that government intrusion is a good thing.  The infiltration of college faculties with liberals who hold a far-left agenda has been to a large extent a catalyst for the kind of “change” we see in Washington today. A large segment of media having sold out to the left is another factor. The ‘news’ on most networks and many newspapers has been obviously leftist for sometime and as Thomas Paine told us, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Left wing thinkers took advantage of this and somehow managed to get other liberals in position to control a large segment of journalism.

Prior to the sixties, Americans were taught how each form of government works and also were made to study the countries that have adopted or had a form of government imposed upon them.

A study of Russia and how Russians lost their freedom was a part of the school curriculum.  A first hand look at dictators was a part of this curriculum and we knew that Lenin sought power over the people.

”The point of the uprising is the seizure of power; afterwards we will see what we can do with it.” Vladimir Lenin

Later, it was common knowledge that in the Soviet Union, people were persecuted if they dared speak against the government or worship God openly. We saw pictures of the long lines of people trying to buy necessities.

We were allowed to know that under men like Stalin, millions died and:

With Joseph Stalin in control, the Soviet Union began a period of radical social and economic change, punctuated with cruel executions and deportations of the upper classes. The lower classes were then forced into group farms, to guarantee the nationalization of the entire economy. Millions died from famine and the resulting food shortages, but the Soviet Union’s most feared leader staunchly stuck to his political ideals, and met all resistance with still more deportations and executions.

Another well-known dictator was Adolf Hitler, who after gaining the power he desired, used fear and intimidation to force the German people to turn in their neighbors and even family members if they were Jewish or harboring Jews.  Hitler’s tactics were not a secret. Americans understood how Hitler used charisma, propaganda, and brain washing tactics to gain power. This power was so strong that it forced soldiers and citizens to aid and abet him as he rounded up, tortured, and killed 5,709,329 Jewish people.

All of  this happened after the writing of our constitution. Our founding fathers had other examples of dictators and tyrants and their cruelty to mankind which compelled them to prayerfully declare that ours was to be a nation of free men and women.

Capitalism is the only system that has ever allowed movement from the lower class to the higher class in one generation without the use of force. Barack Obama would not be able to take over private sector and destroy our system of capitalism and free enterprise if a long propaganda war had not been first waged.

It is my prayer that America’s youth will wake up and choose to study and support our constitution and demand that our leaders govern by it and defend and protect this powerful document.

Gallup Poll Finds Forty Percent of Americans to Be Conservative

The above headline really should cause folks to take notice. Conservatives have been attacked by those  in the media.  Liberals have badmouthed, ridiculed, taunted, abused and used every means possible to sway public opinion against conservatism. Still Gallup Poll finds that forty percent of our population is made up of conservative thinking individuals. Only 20% call themselves liberal with 36% described as moderate.

Even with the propaganda campaign designed to steer people toward liberalism, Americans have maintained independent thinking and conservative ideals.  (A big part of this may be having had ten months of unbridled liberalism in Washington.)

I find this extremely comforting at a time when there isn’t much, politically speaking, to be happy about.

In fairness I should add that liberalism has been attacked by conservatives also. It seems that there is a difference, but perhaps I am biased, in that conservatives attack the tenets of liberalism while liberals attack the conservative person. I acknowledge, however, that statements made by liberals in the administration are often used in radio and commentary to turn people from liberalism and that a few attack on a personal level.

It is my hope that as a nation we rise above the politics of personal destruction and never attack personally but always, if we must war, have a war of ideas and ideals.  Sometimes it is difficult to be against communism without pointing out the communist among us. Even this, however, should be strictly on a political idealogy level and not attack the person as an individual.

Hate Crime Legislation

Christians need to read the hate crime legislation carefully. Perhaps this will tone down some of the rhetoric and hate speech against Christians.

Sadly, it will also take away the opportunity for many to hear the gospel if Christians abide by the law.

He notes that several years ago, a similar law in Pennsylvania resulted in the arrest of 11 Christians who were presenting the gospel at a Philadelphia homosexual rally.

In the light of world history, this is not unusual that Christians are not allowed to speak freely. It is also something that the scriptures tell us will happen, so we should remain joyous and thankful that God has redeemed people from every race, kindred and people over the earth and continue to watch as our redemption draws near.

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6-7

“pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg

The Treasury Department on Thursday tried to make “pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member of the network pool except Fox News. The pool is the five-network rotation that for decades has shared the costs and duties of daily coverage of the presidency and other Washington institutions.

But the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included. The pool informed Treasury that Fox News, as a member of the network pool, could not be excluded from such interviews under the rules of the pool.

Don’t know which is more shocking, this administrations attempt to control media or the other media’s response.  When the Obama white house attemped to eliminate Fox, the number one cable news network, from covering the interview of pay czar Kenneth Feinberg the other networks did exactly what they should have done, they refused to do the  interview without Fox.

Way to go.

Do unelected Czars actually have power? Absolutely, or should I say absolute?

Obama vs Fox News?

The Obama Administration has accused Fox News of not really reporting news.  This should cause a ‘heads-up’ moment across America.  Suppose Fox News isn’t reporting news or suppose what they report is not favorable to Obama, what difference does that make in a country where freedom of speech and expression are guaranteed?  If something is reported incorrectly there are methods in place to deal with the situation. Those who are misrepresented may sue the network and other networks can use this as an opportunity to gain viewers by exposing Fox, if the charges are true.

Fox may be the sole news agency that actually reports what the Obama administration doesn’t want reported.  The administration has the power to point out any untruth that is reported and they certainly have many agencies that are willing to report favorably on any issue. There can be only one reason Obama would want Fox shut down.  That one reason could only be that the reports are true and the truth hurts the administration.

Regardless, it is eerie and frightening for a president to spend time trying to control news agencies.

Two questions concerning media come to my mind.

The first is why are other news agencies are reporting only favorable information in regard to the Obama administration? They certainly bashed President Bush. They gave opinions during their news hour, not just in editorials,  but President Bush did not attempt to have legislation passed to silence them.

The second question is, if Fox is the only news agency that will report anything negative about the government, what must Americans do?

Would what happened in Nazi Germany have been different if someone had dared report the negatives of  Joseph Goebbel?

As Reichsminister for Propaganda and National Enlightenment, Goebbels was given complete control over radio, press, cinema, and theater; later he also regimented all German culture.

What Americans want is simply the truth. All totalitarian states strictly control the media and broadcasters.  Americans need to pay close attention when Obama mentions “bailing out failing” newspapers. Many are failing because they refuse to print the complete truth. Americans need to pay close attention when democrats begin to “regulate” the airways. This is government control of media. It is dangerous and even those who love Obama and are liberal are in danger of being deceived when there is no news other than the news the government allows aired.

Pelosi Blocks Bill Requiring Pre-Vote Waiting Time

In June, a bipartisan resolution was introduced by Reps. John Culberson (R-TX) and Brian Baird (D-WA) that would change House rules to require all major bills to be posted online publicly for at least 72 hours before they are brought to a vote on the House floor. Reps. Greg Walden (R-OR), Culberson and Baird filed a “discharge petition” in the House regarding the 72-hour review resolution. If this bipartisan discharge petition receives the signatures of any 218 House members, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer will be required to schedule the resolution for an up-or-down vote on the House floor…

This bill would give Americans an opportunity to know what is in any health care legislation prior to it becoming law. Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes this bill.  Would you like to have a chance to read legislation as most legislation will affect you and/or your love ones?

Hard Choices

What does Glenn Beck have in common with Anita Dunn? When Dunn spoke to a graduating class in June of this year she suggested that students would need to make a choice.  The choices Dunn spoke of will be the subject of another post. Glenn Beck just asked Americans to make some hard choices.

After viewing videos of those who are now in power, it seems that we indeed must make some choices and the time to choose is now.

Do we want our country ‘transformed’ by changing our government to a communist/Marxist form or do we want to continue to live under a constitutional republic?  The other possibility in the minds of many folks is a socialist republic.  For some time I thought this was the plan of the Obama administration – to transform our government into a socialist republic. I no longer believe this.  Judging from the people chosen to work in the Obama administration, many who are behind the scenes,  the likelihood of a communist/Marxist government seem more likely.

How will Americans decide?

Perhaps the decision will be made by those who simply remain uninformed.  If this is the case, I believe that the choice will be communist/Marxist.
