Word for Today

…the time is near. Revelation 1:3

When we think about time, we all must admit that this is the one thing man has zero control over. We may decide how we use our time, but we have no control over how many hours there are in a day or how many days there will be in our lives.

Evolutionists today believe that they are able to disprove Genesis by proving the age of the earth. Many are very arrogant and angry when questioned about the subject.

And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” Matthew 7:29

It seems to me that the key word here is the word authority.  When Jesus taught on earth, those who heard Him were always amazed because He taught with authority.

for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:29

Today there is a united and world-wide effort to teach evolution to man. The entire premise depends on time, the one thing about which Jesus said ‘we are not to know‘.  Evolutionists are so certain that they know about the age of the earth that they no longer consider evolution a theory.  Random selection and Darwinism is taught as fact in public schools. While evolutionists say that they do not deal with origins of life they in fact do attempt to deal with origins as you will see here:

Is evolution contingent or predictable?

The sad truth is that our educational facilities and our science curriculum leave no room for creation, for God, and especially for the Bible. In the USA, we are allowing all students who attend state supported schools to be taught that creation is no longer considered to be a possibility.

How then does one explain the authority and power of Christ and the power found in the Bible or the Word of God? It is undeniably there. That power is evident in the church today and in the lives of Christians and in the work of the Holy Spirit.

King David recognized it:

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11

Peter who shared bread with Christ and was present at the crucifixion recognized it:

Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2 Peter 1:16

What is happening is deceit. Many are being deceived in these last days and many are of one mind. This too is predicted:

These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. Revelation 17:13

There is a problem with this ‘one mind’, ‘one world’ thinking. When men take on a ‘herd’ mentality and give over allegiance to man as will be done in the last days tyranny follows. The time will be short. That much we know because:

After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! Revelation 19:1

The church today must stand firm and fight for the right to teach truth to each generation. It isn’t our job to explain the age of the earth. Christ holds this in his own authority and He will make it known in His time. It is up to us to remain faithful. Nobody said it was going to be easy.
