Word For Today
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. Luke 2:5-6
I like how Joyful Heart Ministries explains how we know that Jesus isn’t a myth or a legend:
Jesus has an historical context; he’s neither a myth nor a legend.
A myth is “a person or thing having only an imaginary or unverifiable existence.”1 But Jesus was born in history. A legend is “a story coming down from the past; especially one popularly regarded as historical although not verifiable.”2 But Jesus is both historical and verifiable. He is mentioned not only in the New Testament, but by contemporaries and early documents such as Josephus, Pliny, Tacitus, Suetonius, Bar-Serapion, Thallus, Lucian, Josephus, and the Talmud.
Merry Christmas Just for Fun
I thought it might be fun to share ideas. What is the best idea you have had for sharing with others at Christmas? It might be making calendars with family pictures for each family, booklets for the grandchildren with special pictures including funny things the children or grandchildren have said over the years, giving everyone specialty baskets with their favorite tea, coffee, or cookie mix or a special tradition you and your family enjoy each year. If you have something to share, please place it in the comment section. All ideas are welcomed and appreciated.
Rush Limbaugh said what needed to be said yesterday. Associated Press has already begun to accuse Republicans, who by the way are still in a minority in Congress, of starving school children.
Are Republicans starving school children? No, what the Republican amendment does is require background checks for child care workers. It slows the process down and would require background checks for daycare workers. Associated Press, had they been biased against liberal democrats rather than conservative Republicans, could make the accusation that Democrats do not care if workers with criminal backgrounds are hired in day cares. The amendment did not even kill the bill, it amended the bill.
Anyone who is familiar with the child care nutrition program knows that needy children get not only lunches that are paid for by tax dollars, but breakfast and afternoon snacks as well.
Neal Boortz also made an astute observation yesterday. He called The New York Times out on their carrying the WikiLeak story. The Times had refused to print emails that reported the fraud connected with global warming ‘science’ when it was being reported across the nation and around the world because they were obtained illegally. The WikiLeak documents weren’t obtained illegally??
