Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Luke 2:34-35

This morning, as you read Simeon’s prophecy, and now are on the other side of much of the prophecy, are you able to shrug and dismiss how God spoke through this elderly saint? It is just as important toaday as it was over 2,000 years ago.
The Christmas story is one of rare beauty and significance. Every detail has a purpose. God left nothing to chance. While it must have been difficult for those in His community and household, this day in the temple would be etched in the minds of those around Him and recorded for all who follow.
