Word for Today

He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20

How many people reading this are able to say that you have seen a man plow a mule?

A special generation living today has seen men plowing mules and lived to see men walk on the moon and move well into the 21st century.

Perhaps aging does have some advantages.

For one thing, a generation living today knew people who lived in the 19th century. My grandmother had a proverb for every situation. The proverbs she lived by worked for her, yet most have gone by the wayside. Wisdom of that century is quickly passing away.

Waste not; want not.

Never cry over spilled milk.

Fools names and fools faces are always found in public places.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Don’t kick a dead horse.

Don’t carry all your eggs in the same basket.

King Solomon wrote:

A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:5,7

May the wisdom of God guide you and the decisions you make in 2011.
