Darrell Issa is the man to watch

Word for Today

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:1-2

Our pastor asked the congregation to commit Psalm 1 to memory this year. As we consider the words and advice given in this Psalm it seems quite appropriate to meditate upon these words as we enter the New Year.

We are often judged by the company we keep. Most parents know that children usually behave in a similar manner as their friends.  While God judges us individually, in His wisdom He reminds us that we should choose with care the places we go and the things we allow to fill our minds and our world.

Political Point

U.S. Representative Darrell Issa seems to be the man to watch in Washington this year. Representative Issa plans to focus on greater transparency as the House Oversight and Government Reform chairman.

CNN has already taken on the job of interviewing Issa and of course it is a much tougher interview than any to which a democrat would be subjected. Rep. Issa held his own remarkably well and seems to be a very promising leader.

Hopefully he will do just what he is promising to do, expose waste, abuse,  and corruption and help put an end to the wasteful spending in Congress.  The interview causes me to wonder why CNN seems to be more against Issa than against corruption and abuse!

Let’s support and pray for Darrell Issa!

(If you watch the CNN interview, watch the entire interview.)
