Samaritan’s Purse, a ministry of Franklin Graham, is known for helping those in Sudan and other countries who are suffering. That they also are available when disaster strikes at home was something some may not have known. Samaritan’s Purse volunteers arrived in Tuscaloosa, AL after the recent disasters there, however, and offered both physical and spiritual help.
Samaritan’s Purse responded to the tornadoes that devastated Alabama by sending staff and equipment to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. Thousands of volunteers have worked with us to help hundreds of storm victims by combing through debris to recover valuable belongings, cutting up and removing downed trees, and making emergency repairs to damaged roofs.
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God’s desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, “Go and do likewise.”
May God bless Franklin Graham and those who support this ministry.
