Setting the Record Straight and Answering Allegations

Will Herman Cain be as damaged in 2011 as Newt Gingrich was in 1980?

Sadly it has taken thirty-one years for the truth to be revealed concerning Speaker Gingrich. One has to wonder why he did not try harder to fight against the lies and innuendoes. Perhaps he understood that it would be futile at the time and he wondered, “Who am I to blow against the wind?”

fight for him. (That is my prayer.)

As for Newt Gingrich, his daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, has come forward to tell what really happened in 1980.

The truth has a way of surfacing and perhaps this is the time in Speaker Gingrich’s life when it is really important for people to know that his daughter says:

It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won’t repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here’s what happened:

My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.

Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother.

She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor.

The tumor was benign.

Perhaps as we listen to the allegations against Herman Cain we will remember that media stories often take on a life of their own and sometimes it takes thirty years or more for the truth to actually surface.

If you think Herman Cain is the nation’s best hope in 2012, please don’t let the stories deter you from supporting him. If you think Newt Gingrich is our best hope, be glad that his daughter has set the record straight.
