The Power To Elect A President

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Romans 13:1

Our nation plans to elect a president in 2012. CNN, FOX, and most news agencies are giving most of their time to coverage of the candidates. The American people are considering the field of candidates, but who actually will choose our president?

Perhaps I should ask, what will decide the election?

Will it be that:

1. Ron Paul and Donald Trump run as third-party candidates which of course is tantamount to handing the election to Barack Hussein Obama?

2. The Republican candidates self-destruct? Herman Cain was rendered ineffective, whether by his on philandering or by women being paid to accuse him publicly. Either of those two things are possible but the second is more probable. Regardless, the end result is that he was taken out of the race. Michele Bachmann cannot get traction and she seems determined to destroy all the other candidates. This makes her look much less favorable as a potential president, at least in my eyes. Each candidate seems to think negative is better than positive except maybe Newt Gingrich.

3. The person who is most capable of doing the job and will probably get the Republican nomination is the most likely to be destroyed when liberals are finished with him? Ironically, the things they will use to destroy him will be his policies or statements when he came across as liberal in the past. Democrats and ultra conservatives will tell voters this is reason not to vote for him.  Many will agree and allow a Marxist to be re-elected rather than vote for a conservative who seems somewhat moderate.

Yet in all of this, there is One who will controls events and ultimately decides. There is a hand that guides the collective actions of mankind.  He will choose to bless or to withhold His blessing.

But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, and the nations will not be able to endure His indignation. Jeremiah 10:10

If we want a nation that is again ruled with wisdom and integrity, we as a people must live in a way that pleases God. To do this, we must bless the people of God, the God of Abraham:

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Genesis 12:3

In Christ Jesus, all the families of the earth have been blessed. If we will uplift God’s Son, then we will be blessed as a nation. If we continue on this path of dishonoring God, His people, and His Son, we have sealed our own fate. America will continue to decline.
