Closing the God Gap

Cal Thomas recently wrote an op-ed for Town Hall that has been syndicated and run in many newspapers across America. It is called, The God Gap. In it he wrote that “materialism and pleasure contribute to social rot. Social rot precedes national decline.” I saw the editorial in two different newspapers this week and not coincidentally (I think) both editorial sections had other signs of this social rot and decline there in the same sections.

A political cartoon drawn my Mike Luckovich shows the disarray the Republican party is in:

When will the lab report be in?

Another cartoon in the Decatur Daily Newspaper was done by liberal Stahler Universal UClick.

This cartoon appeared to mock Rick Santorum for reading the Bible. Did we  think, even ten years ago, that this would be a reason to mock a candidate in the USA?

Meanwhile, still another cartoon pointed out the irony of the killings in Afghanistan of our young soldiers who are being killed for unintentionally burning the Quran on a military base while cleaning an area. The real irony of the story seems to be that the soldiers who burned books may be brought to trial rather than those who are murdering Americans.

Many people in the south have been heard to say concerning the election of 2012, “Anyone but Barack Obama!” Yet, no leader is coming to the forefront.

I believe that this is God’s message to America. There is no man or woman who can help us at this time. If God had given us a good candidate for 2012, we would do what we have done in the past. We would believe that by voting for this person, we could return to our former greatness and that is just not true. Unless we repent and have a genuine return to God, El Shaddai and Jesus Christ His only Begotten Son, the decline that Cal Thomas described will continue. We must honor God AND live by his word and teachings.

We need true repentance and revival in America.

And now for a little while grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. Ezra 9:8

Thank you so much for voicing what I have been thinking for quite some time. You have spoken eloquently an clearly about the problems plaguing us right now. I wonder every day what is going to happen next, there is a total disregard for God. This will be to the detriment of many. Great post.
