Mr. President

Ray Stevens, on Larry’s Diner, just plugged his upcoming “The Encyclopedia of Recorded Comedy Music”. The work includes 108 comedy songs and is currently on sale.

One you won’t find there is “Mr. President.”

I believe Ray has it all figured out.

About jlue

I am a grandmother of seven and I like to garden, read, study the Bible, and spend time with family. I am not very politically active, but very interested in who is elected to lead our country.

Although this particular song isn’t featured on Ray’s Encyclopedia box set, CD #9 (referred to as the Bonus CD) does include a couple of his other political comedy songs: “Come to the U.S.A.” (about illegal immigration), “Obama Budget Plan” (a song poking fun at the Government’s massive spending habit), “The Skies Just Ain’t Friendly Anymore” (a song about the TSA and invasive airport security screenings), and then there’s “Sucking Sound” which deals with Ross Perot’s 1992 warnings of the side-effects of a global economy and the exporting of America’s jobs to other countries.

The first three songs I mentioned have official music videos available on You Tube. The illegal immigration video is nearing 6,000,000 views and the Budget Plan video has more than 1,000,000 views.

The illegal immigration song comes from 2010, the TSA song hit early in 2011 and the Obama Budget song hit in the summer of 2011 while “Sucking Sound”, which was never released as an official music video—although some have made their own videos of the song—that particular recording originated in 2008. The songs are available on two separate projects: 2010’s We The People and 2011’s Spirit of ’76. The 2010 project features 22 recordings and the 2011 project has 11…totaling 33 political and patriotic songs altogether.

For those curious, there are political music videos on You Tube from Ray Stevens of the following songs: “We The People” (also known as ObamaCare), “Caribou Barbie” (a Sarah Palin salute which has fun with the image that her critics created), “Throw the Bums Out!” (a Tea Party song about the then-upcoming 2010 elections), “God Save Arizona” (about Arizona being attacked in the courts by the Attorney General), and “The Global Warming Song”.
