Part Three – Improving the Educational System in the U.S.A.

1. States should stop ‘requiring’ teachers to join NEA and allow alternative professional associations as is being done in the state of GA.

2. Parents should be allowed choices in selecting an appropriate school for their school age children, even parents who are not financially able to pay for private schooling.

3. Vouchers should be a part of our system.  President George W. Bush signed a law instituting a system of vouchers and SCOTUS has ruled that vouchers do not violate the establishment ruling. Obama ended the D.C. Voucher program. Parents need to get actively involved in establishing a voucher program. As the video below shows, some are involved.

In 1993, Sweden introduced a system of school choice and vouchers, inspired by the ideas of American economists Milton and Rose Friedman. Even though the system was just as controversial then as any U.S. voucher proposal, the right to chose your school and bring the funding with you is today considered a natural right for families and is widely accepted by all political parties.
