There are three areas where Satan seems to try hardest to deceive. He doesn’t want mankind to understand that (A) God is good, (B) that God is the Creator, and (C) that God has completed a plan for the redemption of mankind.
Satan’s attacks often come in these three areas because:
- Even when we know that God Created the world and that Jesus saves, Satan tries to convince us that what is happening isn’t really for our good. If he is successful, he can cause us to question God’s goodness and he can destroy our peace and witness.
- If Satan can place doubt in the mind concerning creation, he can cause doubt that God even exists. Many fall away at this point.
- His greatest effort, however, is to deceive us about redemption. When we comprehend and accept God’s plan for our redemption, that is final. Satan has lost.
Satan doesn’t really mind if people believe in a god, or even if people go to church so long as it doesn’t change lives. Satan doesn’t get greatly upset when we help our neighbor; in fact, he might like that as long as it lulls us into a false sense of security.
What Satan doesn’t want is for anyone to fully understand that God is good, that He was and is the Creator, and that His death on the cross provides redemption and life for a lost and dying world.
In the area of God’s goodness it is written:
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalms 84:11
Concerning creation it is written:
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3
Concerning redemption it is written:
O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life. Lamentations 3:58
Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people… Luke 1:68
You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed…Exodus 15:13
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. Psalm 31:5
…knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation…”Revelation 5:9
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy…Psalms 107:2
No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; it shall not be found there. But the redeemed shall walk there, and the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 35:9-10
“Woe to them, for they have fled from Me! Destruction to them, because they have transgressed against Me! Though I redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against Me. Hosanna 7:13
When doubts come remember Psalms 100:5.
For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.
