“The New York Times” Refers Readers to the Book of Revelation from the Bible

Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. Revelation 16:12

Almost every American feels that we are in the last days. Ironically, many who do not believe the Holy Bible, believe the Aztec calendar and are looking for the world to end in 2012.

Even the New York Times is pointing to what appears to be fulfilled prophecy.

The eleventh chapter of the book of the prophet Isaiah tells of a time when the Lord will “utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt” and “strike it in the seven streams.” God is making a highway for the remnant of his people as it was for Israel when they came out of Egypt.

Most people are aware of the warning in Revelation of a time when there will be a “mark of the beast” that people must have in order to be able to buy or sell.

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 13:16-17

How close are we to being forced by law to mark our children? Would you implant a microchip in your child? Some parents are already volunteering to place ‘locators’ on their child’s person to help ‘protect’ them. This may or may not be a precursor to the mark of the beast.

I am not saying that any of the above means that Christ return is going to be this year or even this century. No man or woman knows the time, however, we are to be ready and watching.

Jesus tells us:

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near–at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Matthew 24:32-35

The Bible is a book that speaks today because it is the inspired word of God. A person who discounts that and ignores what it has to say seems very foolish to me.
