John, on the island of Patmos wrote:
Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth–to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people–saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” Revelation 14:6-7
As I read this it occurs to me, what more meaningful way could the Lord reveal Himself to those on the earth in the last days than as the Creator God? Evolutionists have spent millions on litigation and their brand of education teaching against creation and the Creator. John could not have known this. Only the God who created heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water would have known.
John, over 2,000 years ago, could not have possibly been able to imagine that evolutionists would have caused so many people to depart from the faith. It had to come from God. Why will this angel identify the Lord God of the Universe as Creator God?
I think the angel in the vision referred to the Lord God as the Creator because so many on earth at this time have believed evolution and rejected Jesus Christ. When a person rejects Jesus, they reject the Person who was present when the world was spoken into existence. The statement, by the angel who has the everlasting gospel, will be a very meaningful statement to those living at this time.
Today, evolution is taught around the world and believed by many because it is taught as science and as truth. Here are a few comments that can be found when searching for information on the subject:
Evolution is an undisputed fact within the scientific community and in academia, where the level of support for evolution is essentially universal. (This statement is inaccurate. There are many who dispute evolution, especially Darwinism, however, these are ignored in today’s world.)
Among the most basic questions raised by human beings are those of origins. How did the human species arise? How was the earth created? What about the sun? the moon? the stars? Why do we have night and day? Why do people die? No human society lacks answers to such questions. While these answers vary greatly in detail, they are, for primitive peoples as a whole, similar in their basic form: people and the world exist because they were brought into being by a series of creative acts.
Creation myths are, in general, stories about the creation of the world and/or of humans told by a culture and often accepted as true on one level or another. They are not upheld by facts or by evidence. Evolution, on the other hand, is a scientific theory that has been rigorously tested by the scientific community and that successfully explains phenomena that other theories fail to account for. Support of evolutionary theory, therefore, derives not from faith – either in evolution or in its philosophical underpinnings – but from careful review of the scientific evidence. (Science has no way of proving evolution is responsible for the origin of matter or life as we know it. The theory of evolution has hundreds, probably thousands, of unanswered questions, however, the political systems in today’s world do not require ‘science’ to give the type of proof they ask of creationists.)
It is in light of the above teachings that the angel will speak. Clearly we are to worship God and believe Him. Science is a tool that may be used properly or improperly, but it is never a substitute for God and it can never fully disclose or disprove God. God created not only the heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water, but He created the fields of study – science included. God blesses us with many truths learned in different areas of science, but all are limited. Only God is omnipotent.
Another interesting fact about the prophecy in the book of Revelations is how God is going to end the final rebellion on earth.
God spoke the worlds into existence and He will end the rebellion with the sharp sword that proceeds from His mouth, which we understand to be the spoken Word.
Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations... And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. Revelation 19:15a, 21
I do not think that we are able to comprehend how very powerful the spoken word of God is.
More and more Christians today are realizing that events in today’s world are lining up for the final fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. A few years ago, when reading the book of Revelation, it seemed much more mysterious than it does today. Somehow, it seems to be very relevant to the world today. How then should we live?
God doesn’t want us to be caught up in foolish arguments, because he tells us:
But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:7-8
I think we must remember that it is very hard for those who have been taught since childhood that creation has been dis-proven by scientist to overcome this false teaching. There is only one force able to overcome the world and that is the love of God.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Christians must stay grounded in the truth and show the love of God until He comes.
