Does the nation of Israel have a right to defend itself in the fight with Hamas?
Should the question even be asked? Doesn’t every nation have a right to self-defense?
Apparently, there are many who think Israel does not have this right.
It seems that because Israel is very effective in their fighting, they are now considered, by many, to be the “bad guys” in this war against terror and many have gone so far as to say they do not have the right to defend themselves. Few stop to consider the idea that IF Israel is actually as effective against Hamas as is being reported perhaps this terrorist organization would cease and desist in their attacks. When the cease-fire ends it is Hamas who disrupts the peace by resuming the attacks, not Israel! (Cease-fire ends with rockets from Hamas)
Meanwhile, a ‘Propaganda War’ is raging, even here in America.
Thankfully, as of July 20, 2014, our leaders here in the USA were still supporting Israel’s right to fight back when attacked by terrorists, but the idea Israel needs to be given “permission” indicates that the opposite could hold true as well.
Both Obama and Kerry said Israel has a right to defend itself against frequent rocket attacks by Hamas from the Gaza Strip.
This is a very troubling trend and just as anti-Semitism was prevalent in Germany during WWII, it is becoming prevalent through-out the world today.
At a diversity event in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jewish organizations were specifically told not to bring Israeli flags, while other cultural groups were given no such instructions and in fact brought flags.
In France and Germany, synagogues and Jewish community centres have been firebombed. In Britain, a rabbi was attacked near a Jewish boarding school. And in Australia, a bus carrying Jewish schoolchildren was targeted by teenagers shouting “Heil Hitler” and threatening to slit the children’s throats.
Many have tried to soften the disgusting bigotry by calling it anti-Israel rather than anti-Semitism, but changing the language in no way changes the heart of humanity.
