Discerning truth from error…

Have you ever heard the expression, “It can’t be both ways.” Yet, with God, “All things are possible. Therefore, sometimes it may appear that something can be both ways! Christians must be able to discern truth from error.

For example, when Lazarus died, Jesus told Martha:

John 11:26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

Then Jesus immediately, seemingly contradicted Himself, by saying:

John 11:25 – “And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Jesus tells us that we are all already dead until we come to Him and receive life, Matthew 8:21-22.

There is no contradiction. God is Omniscient. What seems contradictory to men, is ordinary to our God. With our God there is no contradiction when once Christ says we have life by believing in “Him who sent Me” (John 5:24) and another time He says we have life if we “live and believe in Him”, John 11:26.

It seems a contradiction for Jesus to be the Son of God and also to be the Fullness of Yahweh, our God who is one (Colossians 2:9).  Many struggle with their belief at this point, just as Nicodemus did in John 3:3 when Jesus told him, “You must be born again.”

Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, How can these things be? John 3:9

Here is Jesus answer to Nicodemus:

John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Praise the Lord that with Him, all things are possible!

Luke 1:76-79

I am so glad that He is Light and Truth and that NOTHING is too hard for Him.  Jeremiah 32:17
