The liberal media seems to want everyone to know how the world-famous neurosurgeon Presidential candidate, Dr. Ben Carson, answered the question, “Should a president’s faith matter to voters?” He actually said that it should matter…” but added “and it should be consistent with our Constitution.” If it is consistent with our Constitution, then Dr. Carson said it should not matter.
When he said it should not matter if it is consistent with the Constitution, the question was then asked, “Do you believe that Islam is consistent with the Constitution?” Dr. Carson who has a quiet strength said, “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation, I absolutely would not agree with that.”
Those of us familiar with the slimy world of politics know that his enemies want to use this against him. While they will say Trump should have “defended” Obama against the charge of being a Muslim, they will also say Carson, by his comments, is suggesting we not follow the constitution. The US Constitution indicates that religion should not preclude a person from becoming president. Article VI of our Constitution:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
Is Dr. Ben Carson advocating not following the constitution? NO, by no means is he saying that.
Dr. Carson knows that a person cannot uphold both the U.S. Constitution and Sharia Law. He is a wise man and he is completely right on this issue!
If Dr. Carson is asked these questions, so should every candidate of both parties be asked!
