Staying safe from terrorists

The enemy has declared jihad against Christians and all who do not serve Allah. Uncertainly is becoming a way of life and fear a companion. Terrorism is a very real threat in the 21st century, so I decided to look into the Holy Bible and see what God has to say about the subject.

There is a of promise of protection extended to those who are found in righteousness. God specifically states that we will not need to live in constant fear of terrorism.

Isaiah 54:14 In righteousness you shall be established;
    you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
    and from terror, for it shall not come near you.

Since this promise is to those ‘in righteousness’, we need to know what the Bible says about how to become righteous. The Bible is clear that our righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

1 Corinthians:28  God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human beingd might boast in the presence of God. 30And because of hime you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

I believe that there is only One who is able to defeat the enemy and He has already defeated the true enemy – Satan.

Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

He is our only protection from terrorism. He has promised us that if we are among the righteous and redeemed, we are safe, regardless of earthly circumstances.

Isaiah 54

In overflowing anger for a moment
    I hid my face from you,
but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,”
    says the Lord, your Redeemer.

“This is like the days of Noah to me:
    as I swore that the waters of Noah
    should no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,
    and will not rebuke you.
10 For the mountains may depart
    and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
    and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
    says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 “O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted,
    behold, I will set your stones in antimony,
    and lay your foundations with sapphires.
12 I will make your pinnacles of agate,
    your gates of carbuncles,
    and all your wall of precious stones.
13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
    and great shall be the peace of your children.
14 In righteousness you shall be established;
    you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
    and from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 If anyone stirs up strife,
    it is not from me;
whoever stirs up strife with you
    shall fall because of you.
