What are you looking for in our next president?

It is certain that I should not be too critical of anyone’s reasons for voting the way they choose. I can remember when I was too young to vote in the 1960 presidential election, but I was convinced people should vote for John Kennedy because he was young, articulate, and handsome (emphasis on handsome).

Here are some of the reasons I find people are deciding to vote a particular way in the 2016 election.

There are some who are looking for a person they like?  is voting for Hillary Clinton because he likes her.

Cornel West is voting for Bernie Sanders because he thinks Medicare isn’t operating as it should and that Bernie will fix that.

Many are looking for a person who will fix what is wrong with our country and feel they have ‘nothing to lose’ by voting for someone who has actually done something. This is why Donald Trump is so popular.

Some are looking for a godly Christian who has moral fiber and character. Many see this in Dr. Ben Carson.

Believe it or not, there are actually people who think a person should vote for Hillary because she is a woman.

Quite a few college students are voting for Bernie Sanders because they think Socialism is a good thing and they want college paid for by someone other than themselves or their parents.

Some people remain committed to a party or a special interest, but party doesn’t seem to be in play as much in this election as in past elections.

I think the majority are casting protest votes. I found this quote, “My vote will be cast for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% because of my absolute and utter loathing for Sen. Mitch McConnell.” Also we know that there are those voting against the establishment and/or those holding power. Some see the power as being in Wall Street. Others believe Washington is too powerful and too corrupt.

What are you looking for in our next president and what is your biggest motivation for backing a particular candidate?

There are two things that I really want from our next president. I want a person will keep his oath and uphold and defend the Constitution of United States. This takes a person of personal integrity and character.

Proverbs 11:3: The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.

There are only a few candidates in the race that I feel I can fully support.

I am praying for God’s guidance in this matter for myself and for all who will be voting. I hope you will join me.

In the post you linked to, I merely provided readers the opportunity to commit to vote for Hillary and cited no reasons. The blog archives as well as Hillary’s website provide the reasons – too many to cite in a single blog post. The her least of these sex. I have never, at that blog, suggested that her sex was a major reason to vote for her let alone the only one. I do believe that, as a woman and a candidate she is the strongest candidate today and the strongest I have seen in a very long time. The last time I worked this hard for a candidate it was for RFK. Hillary Clinton is very similar to him.

Correction: The sentence should read ” The least of these is her sex.”

The last, or one of the last, reasons to support any candidate should be gender. I can agree with you on that. On what you listed as facts, we disagree. The documented facts about Hillary Clinton rule her out completely on my radar screen. I could never cast a vote for her after watching her testify on Benghazi and learning that she told her family one story and the families of the slain another. I would never trust a person who sends out government documents on a private server, regardless of the classification of the documents at the time she sent them. I have trouble trusting an administration who had a man arrested and jailed because of a you-tube video that had nothing to do with Benghazi. Is he still in jail? I am not racists or gender-biased, I am against misleading people deliberately.

I apologize if I misread you. I didn’t read everything on your blog, but post such as this, Hillary’s Billboard Essay, led me to believe that her gender is a big part of what you are promoting. Perhaps you are not, however, there are those who do, including Hillary Clinton. She has come on stage and exited with the song, “Ask Every Woman.” She frequently brings gender into the campaign with comments such as, “Let me say this, hypothetically speaking, I really do hope that we have a woman president in my lifetime…” If I jumped to a conclusion with your blog, please accept my apology. I do think there are some who will vote for her because of her gender, however.
