A Lasting Temple Not Built by Hands

WHERE IS THE TEMPLE OF GOD?

The first original, earthly temple, built by men, was in Jerusalem.

For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. 1 Chronicles 23:35

The final and lasting temple is built by Yahweh and will be in Jerusalem.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation of Jesus Christ 21:2

WHAT DID THIS TEMPLE REPRESENT?

The temple represented the Name of God and it was a place where He would dwell forever?

He shall build a house for my name. 1 Chronicles 22:10 …dwells in Jerusalem forever. 1 Chronicles 23:35

How is that even possible?

WHO BUILT THE FIRST TEMPLE?

Workers under the instruction of King Solomon built the first temple. King David said to his son said:

Now set your mind and heart to seek the LORD your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy vessels of God may be brought into a house built for the name of the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 22:19

WHO BUILDS THE TRUE AND LASTING TEMPLE?

The true and lasting temple is built by the LORD our God.

Jhn 2:19,21 — Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up….But he was speaking about the temple of his body.

Mar 14:58 — We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. Revelation 21:22

Revelation 14 and 16 has verses that tell us that an angel ” came out of the temple.” This was during John’s revelation of Jesus Christ on the isle of Patmos and John was seeing not only the future, but also a place. John doesn’t name the place in Revelation 1, but he tells us that he is in a place where Christ is in the midst of the seven churches, holding seven stars, the angels of the churches, in His hand.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US TODAY?

Clearly we cannot enter or see the earthly temple, built for the Name of the LORD. It was destroyed long ago. Yet Jesus said, He would rebuild this temple in three days. He was talking about His body. We can enter the lasting temple, but only in Jesus can we enter the temple built of the Name of the LORD.

ARE WE SAFE IN THIS TEMPLE?

When we enter into Christ, we are entering the lasting temple and we are in the ONLY safe place there is…

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28

HOW DO WE ENTER?

We enter by receiving the life that is promised to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, His finished work on the cross. See How To Become A Christian.
