Knowing creation is true leads to knowing Christ and the gospel…

How Essential Is Believing in Creation and a Creator?

Creation isn’t just taught in the first two chapters of the book of Genesis. Both the Bible and history reveal what happens when people or a nation turn against the Creator. What did God create that man cannot replicate? God created life. This same God gives eternal life.

God, in the Holy Bible, makes astounding claims. It is in the Bible we find that God reveals Himself, His Spirit, His Son and His plan. He, alone, tells us that by His Word the worlds were brought into existence.

He alone makes the claim:

I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it. Jeremiah 5:22

He alone says:

“Ask me of things to come; will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands? I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host. Isaiah 45:11-12

Because of His authority and proven power, He is also able to send an angel to command:

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”  Revelation 14:6-7

When a person recognizes the Creator, they are on a path that leads to Christ, the One who has destroyed death. (2 Timothy 1:10) Satan, our adversary, doesn’t want us to find Christ. Knowing Christ means knowing the God who created life and who gives eternal life.

Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. John 17:3

Only a being who is capable of great deception is able to convince a person that this is a bad thing. This is, however, what Satan does to many. There are those today who think it is bad to say there is only one way to be saved or that the Biblical account of creation is true. They are blinded and deceived.

Recently I wrote several post on the subject of evolution vs creation

Just how important is it to teach our children and our nation about creation and the Creator?

Please listen to this message by Dr. John MacArthur. Thousands of years ago, the prophet Jeremiah told the people what they did not want to hear. People today do not want to hear that there is One God and One Way. Still, we need to proclaim this truth so that a remnant may be saved!

Consider for a moment, if one acknowledges that there is a Creator, it then follows, this person must acknowledge there is One God. This is a tremendous revelation. Knowing this is a step toward knowing Him. It just isn’t possible to receive Christ and the eternal life He offers while rejecting the Creator because:

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17

Sometimes I think there’s been far too much made of the specifics. When it comes right down to it, there’s only one thing a person needs to believe in – and that’s a personal relationship with Jesus as his/her savior. Everything else is optional – one person can be a Day-Age, Young-Earther, Old-Earther, Creation-Evolutionist, Intelligent Design advocate or just not know what to believe – it’s the relationship with Jesus alone that saves. I’ve watched generation after generation of kids, five, six, seven years old who affirm that Jesus loves them, not once do they ever share their belief that God created the world in six twenty-four hour days exactly six thousand years ago (give or take a few hundred years) as the primary factor for their belief.
Since God doesn’t seem to care about what’s elements are essential – Jesus and Creationism, Jesus and Complementarianism, Jesus and Tribulation – etc. I don’t think it really matters. If it did, God could easily raise a modern-day prophet in the mold of Jeremiah or Huldah to convert people from their mistaken ideas about his role in Creation – but I think we mind find that he doesn’t so much care about *what* we believe so long as we’re all agreed on *who* we believe in – that’s Jesus (and it doesn’t even matter *how* we believe in Him.).

Jeremiah wasn’t able to cause the people to change. He preached 44 years and people ridiculed him and even dug a pit and threw him into it! I don’t think a modern day prophet would easily convert people either. God is both Redeemer and Creator.

      • Jamie Carter says:

Of the two roles, “redeemer” is vital for salvation, whereas if one believed that God is “creator” but not necessarily “redeemer” wouldn’t be enough for salvation.

That is true! I think the question is, “Will a true believer give glory to another for creation?”

It depends on his or her point of view. Do you do any gardening? I have a few plants. One is thriving only because I continue to interfere with it. One that I planted and left to it’s own devices has gotten out of control. The earth seems a lot more like the latter than the former. But I’m reminded of a line from Downton Abbey; “It’s the gloomy things that need our help, if everything in the garden is sunny, why meddle?”
It may be like City of Ember; some had this unshakeable faith that “the builders” would arrive and solve their problems. They kept on waiting … but ultimately it was a young girl who managed to save the day and she didn’t do it by waiting for the builders to come down and rescue her.

I do garden and it is amazing how a small seed contains life. It is true we must tend the garden and part of our job is to subdue the earth. I am all for scientific research to improve life.

I always think of Romans 8 when I think about the condition of earth due to sin and how even the earth groans because of man’ sin. We can make some improvements, but we have to wait for the complete restoration that will happen when Christ returns.

Romans 8: 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

I copied another person’s thoughts below:

“Interestingly enough, we do not wait alone. The Bible indicates that all of Creation also awaits the coming of Christ. In Romans 8 Paul talks about how “the creation waits in eager expectation” for the glory that will be revealed. And there is good reason for Creation to wait in eager expectation. In vs. 20-21 Paul writes, “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.”
