WHO IS THE ‘HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL?’
Speaking through His prophet Isaiah, God has spoken on this subject. He said:
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour… Isaiah 43:3
With certainty we can say, “Yahweh is the Holy One of Israel!”
Later He says:
As for our Redeemer, the LORD of Hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 47:4
It is also certain that the Holy One of Israel is our Saviour and Redeemer. Do you agree that Jesus is Savior and Redeemer? If you do, then you agree that the title, “Holy One of Israel” includes Jesus.
Does this matter?
Many cults are teaching that Jesus is not a member of the God-head/Holy Trinity. Some who take His name even say Jesus lived a sinless life, but believe that He could have sinned. The Bible teaches that God cannot sin, so it is important to know the truth. Who is Jesus? This is the most important question facing mankind. How we answer and knowing Christ has eternal consequences for each of us, so, “Yes,” it matters!
It is essential to every Christian to fully understand, because Christ, who came as a Lamb, will return as a King with power, and might, and glory. He will return in judgement. He will return and all eyes will see Him, even those who pierced Him. At that time, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, because everyone will know the truth on that day.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.Revelation 1:7
It isn’t only cults that are teaching a false doctrine concerning Jesus Christ. The following is found at a web-site called Jesus Christ, The Holy One of Israel.
According to reliable surveys, nearly half of self-described evangelicals do not believe that Jesus Christ is sinless. Well over half believe they must add their own works to the cross-work of Christ in order to have eternal life.
Given the church’s sinful debasement of Christ, these things should not surprise us. But on the authority of Scripture we must ask critical questions.
How can the worshipers of such a “Christ” possibly understand their true position before God – their utter depravity, the sinfulness of their sin, the condemnation under which they stand, their total helplessness as they face Hell, and their need of a sinless substitute in order to escape God’s wrath?
Jesus is coming back and when He does, He will be revealed completely.
21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.
22And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it.
23And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
24For as the lightning, that flashing out of the one part under heaven, shines unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
25But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
26And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Looking further at the words of Isaiah we find this verse: (Written 725 years before the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth.)
Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth (Jesus), to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee. Isaiah 49:7
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. Isaiah 54:5
Our God is our Creator and our Redeemer and Saviour. Was Christ involved in our creation and/or our redemption and is Christ our Saviour? The Bible says…
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Ephesians 3:9
For by him (Christ Jesus) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Colossians 1:16
For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Philippians 3:20
Finally we read in the Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ:
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelations 4:11
Just as Jesus is a part of Yahweh, we find that the Holy Spirit is within Jesus.
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Revelation 5:6
The Name, Yahweh, includes Father, Son (Yehoshua or Jesus), and Holy Spirit!
…Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Revelation 5:12
“Who is the Holy One of Israel?” Others have addressed this question and reached the same conclusion that I reach. See:
Here is a quote from the site. I agree:
What Christians call the holy trinity, the Godhead, is the Holy One of Isra’el, who is G-D THE FATHER, THE SON AND RUACH HAKODESH (THE HOLY SPIRIT).
