WHO IS THIS BABY BORN IN BETHLEHEM?
Christ life on earth changed the world, so much so that time itself is now counted around this one event!
Shepherds were the first to be told about Christ birth. Angels announced His birth. A star ⭐️ stood over the stable and led Magi from the East who worshiped Him, but the world wondered; who is this Jesus? Is He really Emmanuel, God with us? Why should we celebrate?
Christ brought the New Covenant into effect, did away with the Old Covenant and established His church. The world would never be the same.
HOW DID MEN FIRST COME TO KNOW?
At the time of His birth, there were many people in Bethlehem. The lowest class of people were shepherds. The person on top was the king. Would the king be first to know? Not at all. The dirty, smelly shepherds first received the news and from God’s own angelic hosts of messengers! God knew Herod’s heart.
Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
JESUS IS STILL REVEALED TO THOSE WHO LOVE HIM!
Jesus reveals the FATHER to those whom He chooses.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11:27
When Peter was asked by Jesus, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus response shows how the FATHER reveals the SON to men:
And Jesus responded, “Simon son of Jonah, you are blessed because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father in heaven. Matthew 16:7
We see the HOLY SPIRIT reveals CHRIST who is TRUTH:
John 16:12-14 , Jesus said, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS IS PROPHET, PRIEST AND KING
Deuteronomy 18:15 The Lord God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among you, your countrymen, you shall listen to Him.
Hebrews 9:11 “But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation.”
Psalms 95:3 For the LORD is a great God and a great King above all gods. Matthew 21:15 “Behold your King is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey.” 1 Timothy 6:15 For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS IS MESSIAH
John 4:16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”17The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’18“for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”19The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.20“Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.22“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.23“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.24“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”25The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ)”When He comes, He will tell us all things.”26Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
HE IS EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US!
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created.
4 Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men. 5 That light shines in the darkness,
yet the darkness did not overcome it…
The Word became flesh
and took up residence among us.
We observed His glory,
the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
