Comparing Tenet 13 of Watchtower to the Holy Bible

WATCHTOWER CLAIMS

Tenet 13 – Jesus Christ was not raised physically from the grave, but was instead raised as an immortal spirit; his physical body remained dead and was destroyed by God. wit.irr.org

Nowhere in the Bible is tenet 13 taught. Instead:

THE BIBLE TEACHES

Luke makes it very clear that Jesus resurrection was a physical resurrection:

“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see–for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have. Luke 24:38-39

Every gospel account teaches that Jesus was resurrected. Here is Matthew’s account:

Matthew 28:5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for He has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where He lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

AND

Luke makes it very clear that His was a physical resurrection:

“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see–for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have. Luke 24:38-39

John records that Jesus had breakfast after He was resurrected:

John 21:9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

CONCLUSION

The Lord Jesus Christ came in the flesh to die for the sins of the world. He did just that and on the third day He was resurrected physically! Praise God! Because He lives, we shall live also!
