Who will you thank on Thanksgiving? – πŸ™πŸ»

Imagine if you prepared for the person you love, a beautiful home with everything ‘perfecto’. In the home you include a swimming pool, spa, work-out room, paintings by the world’s master artist, and the best marble, wood, granite and fine materials available are used. Suppose the home is landscaped with beautiful flowers and plants and has a variety of fruit trees and gardens. Included in this home are fine furnishings – only the best. They are handcrafted from all over the world. Everything is there your loved one needs to live life while you are away. You buy special flowers to send the loved one in return for each show of appreciation. Every night you check your mail waiting for a thank you card or a call, but it never comes. Imagine how you would feel.

Now consider this scenario. There is a Creator who designed the universe. He hung the stars in place and commanded the seas to stay within their bounds. He made the hardwood forest, rain forest, deserts, plains, grasslands, and everything in between. He created the rainbow and painted the sunsets. He raised the mountains and allowed the snow to fall in winter. In summer, he arranged for beaches of sand with palms and cool breezes. He placed lakes in strategic places with trout and fish for everyone to enjoy. He created animals of every kind and birds to soar through the air. Not satisfied with this, He placed music in the heart of man and allowed even the breezes to play music of their own. This creation was designed just for the pleasure of mankind whom he placed on a tiny planet called Earth. At the end of each day He checks His mail or listens for a call that includes a “Thank you.” Each time a person remembers to give thanks, that person is given a special blessing. For many generations the appreciation comes on a regular basis, until one day, there is silence…

Looking down upon His creation, the Creator knows the reason. A man named Darwin has written a book calledΒ Origin of the Species and as time has gone by men have begun to read and teach from this book. Many men begin to exalt something called natural selection – men

like Richard Dawkins, Theodosius Dobzhansky, Eugene Dubois, Stephen Jay Gould, Stephen Hawking, Aldous Huxley, Carl Sagan among others whose names are not so well-known. Much time goes by. More and more people read and listen to the men who teach natural selection and Darwin’s “origin”.Β  Eventually a day comes when no one acknowledges the Creator. Not a single “Thank you” can be heard. The blessings remain unused. How must the Creator feel?

Thanksgiving Days continue to come and go and people continue to enjoy feast, family, and friends, but when it is time to give thanks they sit around a table and foolishly discuss how they are pleased that each person has come to share in the feast while never acknowledging the One who brought the feast, family, and friends into existence and made the day possible. They have long since forgotten the words:

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Psalm 107:31

Hopefully this Thanksgiving Day the One who made it all possible will receive a “Thank You” from thousands around the planet.

Who are you thanking for your blessings?
